दुर्गूकोंदल, भारत के छत्तीसगढ़ प्रदेश के दक्षिण दिशा में स्थित एक छोटा सा कस्बा है। बस्तर संभाग के कांकेर जिला के अंतर्गत आने वाले यह कस्बा रायपुर राजधानी से लगभग 170 कि.मी. दूर एक सुदूर अंचल में खूबसूरत जंगलों से आच्छादित, पहाड़ी और नदियों से सुशोभित, आदिवासी संस्कृतियों से रंगे तथा प्राकृतिक खनिजों से परिपूर्ण यह अंचल जनजातीय समुदायों का सरल स्वभाव जो सबके मन को आकर्षित करते हुंए बिल्कुल प्रकृति के गोद में स्थित है।
क्षेत्र के स्थानीय छात्र-छात्राएं स्कूली शिक्षा के बाद उच्च शिक्षा के लिए काफी दूरस्थ महाविद्यालय में प्रवेश तथा आर्थिक कमजोरी जैसे चुनौतियों के कारण आगे की पढ़ाई से वंचित रह जाते थे। अत: अपने अंचल में ही महाविद्यालय के खुलने से अंचल के छात्र-छात्राएं उच्च शिक्षा के लिए लाभान्वित हैं। इस अंचल के लिए अत्यंत गौरव का विषय है कि उच्च शिक्षा के लिए दुर्गूकोंदल का चयन किया गया।
इस क्षेत्र के सभी गणमान्य नागरिक व शासकीय महर्षि वाल्मिकी स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय भानुप्रतापपुर, प्राचार्य पद पर पदस्थ रहे श्री अरूण कुमार व्ही के प्रयास से महाविद्यालय पहली बार जुलाई 2013 को अस्तित्व में आया। तत्पश्चात शासकीय नवीन महाविद्यालय दुर्गूकोंदल का शासकीय इन्दरू केंवट कन्या महाविद्यालय में प्राचार्य रहे डाॅ. रश्मि सिंह ठाकुर के दायित्व में संचालन होता रहा।
कक्षाओं की शुरुआत शा. उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय दुर्गूकोंदल, भवन के तीन कमरे से हुई। बाद में 30 जून 2017 को महाविद्यालय भवन का लोकार्पण हुआ।
सत्र 2018-19 में महाविद्यालय का नाम शा. नवीन महाविद्यालय दुर्गूकोंदल से परिवर्तन कर "कंगलू कुम्हार शासकीय महाविद्यालय दुर्गूकोंदल" रखा गया। महाविद्यालय का नाम अंचल के स्वतंत्र सेनानी कंगलू कुम्हार जी, जिन्होंने अपनी पूरी जिंदगी देश की आजादी में झोंक दी, के नाम पर है।
Durgukondal is a Small town located in the Southern part of Chhattisgarh state of India. This town, which comes under Kanker district of Bastar division, is about 170 KM from Raipur Capital of Chattisgarh. Far away in a remote area, covered with beautiful forests, beautified by hills and rivers, colored by tribal's culture and full of natural minerals, the Simple nature of tribal communities which attracts everyone's mind, is situated in the lap of nature.
Local students of the area were deprived of further studies after school education due to challenges like admission in faraway colleges and economic weakness for higher education. Therefore, with the opening of the college in our zone, the students of the zone are benefited for higher education. It is a matter of great pride for this region that Durgukondal has been selected for higher education.
The college came into existence for the first time in July 2013 with the efforts of Mr. Arun Kumar V, who was posted as the Principal of Govt. Maharshi Valmiki Post Graduate College Bhanupratappur. And all the dignitaries of the region. After that, the Govt. New College Durgukondal was under the responsibility of Dr. Rashmi singh Thakur, who was the Principal of Govt. Indru Kenvat Girls College Kanker.
The Beginning of classes of New College was started in the three rooms of the building of Govt. Higher Secondary School Durgukondal. Later on June 30, 2017, the College Building was Inaugurated.
In the session 2018-19 , the name of the college was changed. Govt New College Durgukondal Became “Kanglu Kumhar Govt. College Durgukondal.” The College is named after the freedom fighter of the region, Kanglu Kumhar ji, who devoted his whole life for the freedom of the country.
